A Door Closes...Another One Opens

As many of you know, I am experiencing many changes right now...new roommates, new job responsibilities, and even a new cell-phone number! And as always is the case, it is these moments of separation that leave me with a little sadness, manifested even now in this, what will be my final blog post using blogger!
But just like the ending of a good novel, this leaves me the opportunity to begin another!!! My new (and hopefully better) blog will now be located at http://blogs.hunsbergermath.com/1141
Come visit! Come read my thoughts! Come read my dreams! Come see what's going on in my life!
....or just read it if you're bored out of your mind....

Back to Work!!!

Last night as I set my alarm for very early this morning, I reflected on just how short a summer it had been, how much fun I had had, and how soon it would come crashing to a halt in a few short hours. I woke with weary eyes, headed down to the new Starbucks at the bottom of my road, and made my way over to Johnnie Cochran Middle School. It was great to see many a familiar face as well as the new teachers eager to begin life in LAUSD. I also began my first day as department chair, which is way too much power for me to have :) , but oh well. Anyway, the next few days I have to look forward to offsite trainings, which means earlier mornings and longer drives.
P.S. I have a new cell phone number. If you need it, call my old cell phone number!

Settling Back In

It's finally August, the temperatures are still almost unbearable, the reality of the coming school year is setting in, and the Barry Bonds traveling circus show has now come and gone from Los Angeles. In other exciting news, we're getting a new roommate for the coming year. Two of my previous roommates are moving out this year and today one of their replacements, Matt, moved in! He's not really new in the sense that I've now known him for almost three years as a member of TFA. I'll greatly miss Brett and Derek, but it's nice to have someone I know very well move in as a replacement! Upon moving in, Matt was as excited as I am about our newly renovated garage practice room! Anyway, school begins Monday and tomorrow is essentially my final day of freedom before I start the 10-month roller-coaster ride that is working for a district with a student population equal to the population of the city of San Francisco.
